Three Yellow Elephants

My son introduced me to an app called Yuka . I am obsessed! I can't stop scanning food and cosmetic products.  Yuka is a mobile app that allows you to scan food and cosmetic barcodes to analyze the health and environmental impact of that product.  First, it looks at the nutritional quality: calories, sugar, salt, saturated fats, protein and fiber.  Second, it looks at additives; the presence of additives, and their type.  Thirdly, it looks at whether the product is organically certified.  Lastly, it looks at allergens and carcinogens in personal care products.  It uses a color-coded system to make it easy to understand. Green indicates a healthier choice. Yellow indicates a moderate choice. Red indicates a poor choice. My favorite part of the app is that it gives you recommendations for a healthier alternative.  I truly love this app and I think you will too.  It makes it easier to make healthier choices.
